St. Mark Catholic Church Religious Education Classes Preschool thru 8th grade
The following are class descriptions for the various grade levels. St. Mark is pleased to offer continuing religious education from Preschool through 8th grade. A reminder that the Sacramental program for 1st Reconciliation and 1st Communion is two years in length.
All classes will begin in September 2009 and end in April 2010.
Sunday School (PreK – Kdg) This class is open to children in Pre-K and Kdg (4 and 5 years old). Classes meet Sundays during the 9:30 a.m. Mass. This class includes stories, activities and crafts geared to this age group.
Elementary Children in grades 1 - 5 meet on Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 7:30 pm. Using the Call to Faith curriculum which builds on itself from year to year, the children gain a deeper understanding of the Catholic Faith while growing in the parish community.
Young Catholics This youth group style program is for students in 6th through 8th grades. The classes meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 7:30 pm. Using the Junior High Call to Faith curriculum, students learn two topics a year on a three year rotation that prepares them for Confirmation in 9th grade. There is also an optional – but highly recommended - weekend retreat for students in February. Cost for the retreat is additional. More information will be sent home in the fall.
Sacramental Preparation This is for second year students that are entering into preparation for 1st Communion and 1st Reconciliation. Students are eligible for this class if they have either attended the 1st grade class, been enrolled in Catholic school or have been home-schooled using an approved curriculum. Classes are held Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 7:30 pm. If you have questions about whether your child is eligible, please contact Linda Emmen at 303 466-8720 ext 16.
